Alumni Meeting 01

Alumni Meeting 01 Minutes Date: September 21, 2017 Time: 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Location: HBS Room 205

The first meeting is complete and was a success!
We started our night with, of course, a Moo-In.
For the Alum that don't know what a Moo-In is, it's a time
for individuals to introduce themselves and update
the group on how they are doing/what is going on!
It was a great way for the different Cohorts to come together.
There was at lease one person from each graduated
cohort that were present at this meeting!

Another YDEV ritual we are all familiar with is Ice-Breakers! Duh!
Lauren Kelley (Cohort IV) led the activity.
We each grabbed one to three pieces of candy.
The amount of candies we grabbed were the number of facts
we had to share about ourselves. This was an open opportunity
to define the idea that the YDEV Alumni Meetings are:
"a safe space in regards to comments or opinions that are open to discussion."
This was a great transition for the YDEV Alumni present
to discuss what we want out of these meetings.

The group took some time discuss their thoughts and ideas about
what they want to get out of these meetings, when we should have them,
where we should have them, etc.
Some Topics That Were Discussed:

Monthly Meetings Throughout the Year.
♦ Possibly having meetings twice a month instead of once
or on days other than Thursday
♦ Keep the meeting set-up similar to a YDEV class
♦ Create guidelines, but Going with the
Open Discussion Flow
♦ Different settings to host meetings.
Example: Meeting at the Library for Different/Additional
People to Join in on Discussions
♦ Setting a positive, more casual environment
to bring in more people and build our community.
♦ Time for Networking within YDEV community for
future events, job opportunities, etc.
Note: If you are aware of any job openings,
YDEV related events, etc.
Please forward info to Melissa DuBois.
♦ What do other Alumni Groups do that would work for us?
♦ Different Ways to Promote the YDEV Alumni Group
in public settings
♦ Reaching out to Alumni to get more people
to come to meetings

A big, big, thank you to all of the Alumni that showed up to this first meeting!
You have helped YDEV in so many ways already and
I can't wait to see what is in store for this group!
If any Alum have any questions regarding the topics discussed,
please contact Melissa DuBois for more info.
